There are pumpkins growing in the trees!

Tried to Cover the Patch

With the help of the truck headlights (after coming in from the field) we tried to cover all the pumpkin patch to protect it from our first frost. Got most of it, but was a lot of work. The tarps didn't cover everything - and the wind blew off the tarp in other places. It will definitely be easier to find the pumpkins once we let the frost have its way - which is exactly what my father told me: "You will find the pumpkins once the frost hits".

Hard to Find Pumpkins

It is hard to find pumpkins in all the vines - my dad says that there is no use trying - just wait until the frost then they will magically appear. But I am impatient and want to see the pumpkins. Here is another photo of the Howden pumpkin - now turning colour taken on Sept 2. The pop bottle is still off to the side to show the size, but it is hard to see it in this photo. And a baby pumpkin is forming above - think that I will have to try to re-arrange these two.
